DIY sew in hair extensions
Surely you've seen the glamorous hair styles on television, social media or simply being out and about. Yes, getting extensions can be costly but if you do them yourself, you can cut the cost of wearing extensions by 50% or more.
Things you will need for sew in extensions:
- 2 bundles of extension hair (may require more depending on the amount in each bundle)
- 1 closure
- Thread
- Needles
- Satin bonnet or Satin scarf
- No Sulfate Shampoo and Conditioner
It normally takes 2-3 hours to do a full sew in. These are the steps to follow:
- Wash and condition your hair
- Dry your hair completely
- Cornrow your hair in small sections
- Starting at the back of your head, measure from one side to the other using the extension hair. Cut the the weft and sew across from one side to the other. Repeat this process until you reach the area for the closure
- Sew on the closure (may require a small amount of bonding glue for the hairline)
You will find a Youtube Sew In Tutorial below that shows the complete process of a Sew In
